In a number of articles published in 2008 and 2009, the Sunday Independent suggested that Neasa Ni Chianain, the prominent documentary film maker, had acted improperly in the making and direction of the well known RTE documentary Fairytale of Kathmandu.
We acknowledge that this suggestion was entirely unfounded and that Ms Ni Chianain is, and has always been, an honourable, honest and thoroughly professional film maker, both in respect of her work on Fairytale of Kathmandu and in general.
The Sunday Independent wishes to apologise for the upset and distress which these publications have caused to Ms Ni Chianain.
